it seems like i had always been
a little too hopeful
of things that may or may not come true.
(it did not come true)

the fleeting light from my eyes
betrayed my emotions
as i disappoint you yet
again.

i never seem to be good enough;
just another one in this world
a grain of sand in time
another nuisance in your eyes.

only something in the back of 
your mind. one you always forget, 
along with that trip to the groceries 
or perhaps that long overdue book from the library.

maybe we are looking at each other from a two-way mirror.
you always manage to look through me and my flaws,
while i only see what is reflected from your eyes.
and it is not looking so great.

now you don't.
